Decoration that wraps all the way around — or becomes the wall.
These are two full-coverage decoration methods. A shrink sleeve is a printed plastic sleeve placed over the container and heat-shrunk to conform 360°, often doubling as a tamper-evident neck band. In-mold labeling (IML) places a pre-printed label into the mold so it fuses with the container during molding — becoming part of the wall, with no label edge to peel.
Both deliver seamless, photographic decoration a flat label can’t — and both still carry the same legally required content, now subject to heat, registration, and molding risks a pressure-sensitive label never faces.
The levers are the sleeve/IML film and ink, the shrink profile (or mold placement), registration, and tamper-band function. Heat is the sleeve’s hazard: shrink it wrong and required text distorts; drift the registration and panels or tamper perforations mis-cut.
For a shrink sleeve, printed film is slit, applied over the container with any tamper band positioned, shrunk in a heat tunnel, and perforations/bands set and inspected for distortion and registration.

These integrate decoration and, for sleeves, tamper evidence — but they carry the same regulated content as any label and add format-specific failure modes. Heat distortion can render required text illegible, registration drift mis-cuts panels, and a full-coverage sleeve can obscure a fill-line or embossed required mark. IML art is fixed at molding, so an artwork error becomes scrap, not a relabel.
The discipline is verifying legibility of required text after the shrink/heat step, controlling registration and tamper-perforation accuracy, confirming the tamper band actually evidences opening, checking that no required mark is obscured by full coverage, proofing IML artwork thoroughly before committing to the mold, and verifying film/ink food-contact and migration compliance.
